| Arthur Mgrditchyan was born on February 16, 1959, in the Etillou village of the Hadrout region. In 1980, he graduated from the Yerevan State University majoring in History. He was later sent back to his homeland and was appointed as the principle of the Hadrout National Museum. In 1992 he was elected as President of Mountainous Artsakh. He was married and had 2 children. He was assasinated in 1992.
